This exhibition showcases the full design process behind the FIGMENT/ENYA/SEAoNY Living Pavilion, from jury day through construction, highlighting the many phases and celebrating the numerous volunteers who worked to put this project together.

The FIGMENT/ENYA/SEAoNY Living Pavilion is a sustainable structure installed on Governors Island for the summer 2010 season as a temporary central gathering and assembly site for arts activity on the island. Designed by Ann Ha, Assoc. AIA, and Behrang Behin, Assoc. AIA, the pavilion is the culmination of an international design competition co-hosted by the arts organization FIGMENT, the AIANY Emerging New York Architects Committee (ENYA), and the Structural Engineering Association of New York (SEAoNY).

The jury included: Illya Azaroff, AIA, Director of Design, The Design Collective Studio; Matthew Bremer, AIA, Principal, Architecture In Formation; Will Laufs, Ph.D., LEED AP, IWE, Vice President, Thornton Tomasetti; Aleksey Lukyanov-Cherny, Principal, Situ Studio; Martin Pedersen, Executive Editor, Metropolis magazine; Rob Rogers, FAIA, Principal, Principal, Rogers Marvel Architects; and Marc Tsurumaki, AIA, Principal, LTL Architects.

Ann and Behrang worked with Kari Katzander and Sarah Bray of Mingo Design for Green Wall Technology and Plant Selection, Yunlu Shen of Buro Happold for Structural Analysis, and Farhad Behin and Bahram Sayari for construction prototyping. Tietz-Baccon LLC sponsored the CNC Milling. The NYC Department of Parks and Recreation GreenThumb program donated plants. Behrang managed construction of the project. Daniela Morell acted as pavilion foreperson.
