First Monographs: Young Design Firms and the Experience of Publishing
When: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 29
Where: At The Center
The AIA's Marketing and PR Committee and the Oculus Committee are pleased to present this conversation on publishing monographs from the perspective of several “young” firms (those in business for about 10 years). The purpose of this discussion is to explore the importance – and potential pitfalls – of publishing a monograph for a young firm. Where many book talks are by mid-to-late career architects who present their work, this talk will give the opportunity to a group of younger architects – those being published for the first time – to talk about their work and about the process of publishing. The event will serve the dual purpose of giving the audience an opportunity to learn about the careers of a select group of architects whose practices are about ten years old AND to act as a how-to on publishing for the first time – what you need to think about, what the potential pitfalls are, and what the benefits might be.
