NBAU: Energy Design Targets and Benchmarking Performance: How to use EPA's Portfolio Manager and Target Finder
CES: 2.0 LU/HSW/SD provided by EPAWhen: 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 15
Where: At The Center
New York City laws with regard to energy consumption are changing rapidly, in particular all buildings in NYC over 50,000 sf must be energy benchmarked by May 2011. The City Agencies are also requiring A/E professionals to incorporate energy calculations in the design stages of their new construction projects. Architects need training on the concepts they are being charged to uphold and the tools which are used to implement them.
This event will provide detailed training on Target Finder, a no-cost online tool from the EPA and an overview of Portfolio Manager, a tool for benchmarking and measuring performance. Target Finder provides designers with an EPA energy performance score for a wide variety of commercial building types.
The course is being presented in cooperation with the New York City School Construction Authority and will include a statement of their expectations from designers and their recent experience with benchmarking and energy calculations for their portfolio.
Information will also be provided on the EPA recognition program for A/E firms "ENERGY STAR Challenge".

Karen P. Butler, EPA
