Culture and Climate: Contemporary Architectural Responses in the Middle East

When: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM THURSDAY, MARCH 1

Where: At The Center

In a climate where conditions have not changed for over 2,000 years, how do architects and engineers working in the Middle East unlock old ideas with new tools? How can the design team learn from what has been built by necessity before, and meet modern needs while respecting culture and history? How can design help reconcile traditions in the context of contemporary culture? The panel will present current work in the Middle East, addressing each project’s context and what makes building in the Middle East of the present place and time. From the perspective of foreign architects and engineers working in the region, their dialogue will focus on the approach to responsive and responsible design in the Middle East.
