Featured Guide John Hill will share his detailed research on the City’s newest buildings and landscapes. These recent works will be discussed within the context of the innovative global architecture featured on his daily blog- http://archidose.blogspot.com/
Every Around Manhattan boat tour identifies individual landmarks and discusses distinct periods of New York’s development, including the City Beautiful era’s Beaux-Arts monuments, Art Deco spires, elegant residential enclaves, Urban Renewal superblocks and recent “starchitecture” towers. This season, the regularly scheduled architecture boat tour presents a tour series led by NYC waterfront specialists. The Featured Guides: planners, authors, activists, landscape architects and architects will offer first hand insight drawn from their involvement in the radical transformation of our city’s edge. An AIANY guide will host the tour and share Around Manhattan architectural tour narration with the Featured Guide. All guests aboard the1920’s style yacht the Manhattan will experience an informative and entertaining floating conversation.
Guests are treated to a complimentary beer, wine or champagne from the bar and light snacks, as well as soda, water, tea and coffee.
On this 2.75-hour cruise, you will completely circumnavigate the island of Manhattan (passing under all 18 bridges) while taking in the sites and architecture tour designed by AIANY.

Meta Brunzema, Architect + Urban Designer, Meta Brunzema Architects PC, Professor Pratt University and Founding Director Friends of Hudson River Park, will discuss post Westway community based waterfront planning as well as a number of her innovative projects. River Pool will provide new opportunities for people to safely swim in bio-filtered river water and experience the flow of currents and tides.

October 7th, 2012
Gina Pollara, executive director of the FDR Four Freedoms Park on Roosevelt Island, will provide an insightful East River preview of world renowned architect Louis Kahn’s posthumously-built Four Freedoms Park. Also joining the tour will be Bill Woods, AIA, Former Director, Waterfront and Open Space Planning at NYC Department of City Planning, who will discuss the city's sustained and ambitious planning effort to revive a 520 mile urban shoreline.
