Big City Adventures in Building Science: Roofs, Parapets, Balconies, Storefronts, Curtain Walls and Foundations
AIA CES: 7.5 LUs | 7.5 HSW | 7.5 SD BPI Recognized for 4.0 CEU CreditsWhen: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM TUESDAY, JUNE 5
Where: At The Center
Join Dr. Lstiburek as he provides a comprehensive run down of the basic enclosure elements that architects and engineers deal with every day in the big city.
How often do we run across leaky parapets destroying a building? What is a compact roof and why do you need one? What is the best way to specify balcony flashing or deal with storefront connections? Why are these details typically left to the contractor and then to the engineer to fix later?
Joe will answer these questions and more as he schools us on roofs and parapets as well as water management at balconies, storefronts, curtain walls and foundations. While he is at it, you will learn about vapor barriers and air barriers and how they are done in each of these areas.
Your designs will never be the same after hearing what the good doctor has to say!
