Waterfront Edge Design Guidelines Exhibition Opening
When: 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM THURSDAY, JANUARY 22
Where: At The Center
Join us for the reception for the Metropolitan Waterfront Alliance’s Waterfront Edge Design Guidelines (WEDG) Exhibition. Following this event at 6PM, there will be a discussion about waterfront issues in New York and Denmark, The Future Neighborhood to the Sea: Experiences from Denmark and New York, featuring waterfront and resiliency experts, including MWA and its partners from Copenhagen, as part of an international exchange of ideas and lessons learned.
WEDG is a tool and scorecard for creating resilient, accessible waterfronts. MWA developed WEDG as a way to achieve real and necessary change at the waterfront.
With input from hundreds of waterfront experts, MWA created guidelines and an incentive-based ratings system, earning the support of all major government regulators. And the result is a logical, easy-to-use tool for any type of waterfront, with scorecards tailored for three types of uses:
• Residential / Commercial
• Industrial / Maritime
The exhibition introduces the public to the program, describing credit categories and example credits, and offering case studies for all waterfront uses.
Version 1.0 will be released on January 22, 2015, at 5:00 PM, at a public launch event and will be available for download at waterfrontalliance.org/WEDG.
Over the next year, MWA will showcase a wide variety of waterfront projects to demonstrate how and where WEDG can be used. MWA will be constantly improving WEDG and invites you to send feedback to firstname.lastname@example.org. Future plans include a dedicated WEDG web portal through which applications for WEDG certification may be submitted, reviewed, and certified. MWA will also create WEDG Homes for smaller residential projects.
