In the early 1910s through the early 1920s, four Europeans came to work for Frank Lloyd Wright: Rudolf Schindler, Richard Neutra, and Antonin and Noémi Pernessin Raymond. Though this was the most difficult period of his life, Wright was still expanding upon his conception of an organic modern architecture, introducing new techniques and tectonics, regional influences, and, most importantly, a new and deeper relationship between architecture, nature and the landscape. This next generation of young European/American architects would take what they learned from their experiences with Wright and carry it in their own unique directions, especially within the realm of residential architecture and the formation of regionalism. The work of Schindler, Neutra and the Raymonds, would set the direction of modern architecture on two continents through the balance of the 20th Centuy.

This symposium will focus on the work of these architects, their relationships with Wright, and the contributions and implications of their work today.
