Archinomics: Effects of Predicted Global Economic Growth on the Architecture Profession

When: 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 21

Where: At The Center

Where will global economic growth be focused over the next decade and how will global architectural practice be affected? The BRIC(S) economies (Brazil, Russia, India, China and later, South Africa) have, since 2001, been symbols of the shift away from the established G7 economies towards the more rapidly-developing world. Many global architecture firms based in New York, practicing globally, relied on the growth in these countries and others in the Middle East, South America and Asia to maintain and build diverse practices, particularly following the 2008 recession. While the most rapid growth today remains in regions outside the U.S. and Europe, the ‘West’ is rebounding as the world economy, at large, continues to recalibrate in expected and unexpected ways.

This Global Dialogues event will ask architects, developers and economists to predict which regions and countries are likely to experience the most outstanding growth beyond 2020, and to discuss the potential effects on and opportunities for the global practice.
